04 Dec Official Partner of CityVerve, Manchester’s £10 million Smart City Demonstrator – showcasing the UK’s best IoT solutions on a global stage.
Manchester’s £10m Smart City demonstrator project helps Sparta Digital take the next big leap.
Sparta becomes a key player in Internet of Things (IoT) applications as Manchester wins a £10 million award which promises to improve public services and boost quality of life in the city.
Out of 22 entries involving 34 cities across the UK, the Manchester application – CityVerve project was declared the clear winner of the UK government’s IoT competition.
Digital Economy Minister Ed Vaizey said: “I’m delighted that the CityVerve Project is the winner of our Internet of Things Cities competition. The Project will bring real benefits to people who live and work across Manchester, one of our Northern Powerhouse cities”.
The CityVerve project will demonstrate applications of Internet of Things technologies and services in four key areas: healthcare; transport; energy and environment; and culture and community. It will demonstrate a smart city at scale, aiming to provide a replicable model for other cities in the UK.
Leveraging the good work done on earlier Smart City projects, Sparta’s role would be to develop & deploy various real-world applications of IoT.
Sparta is currently developing mobile applications, Content Management Systems (CMS) and other business applications using beacons & people counters in the Transport & Retail sectors.
Marketing Director, Vijay said: “CityVerve gives us the opportunity to work with likes of Cisco & Siemens to build & trial IoT solutions for both private and public sector in UK”.
